St. Petersburg Times coverage, 1993

A very nice piece written up by a pleasant young woman.
Despite a small handful of the inevitable misquotes or
inappropriate titles, one of the better coverages I've seen
from a non-comics person!

'eclectica delectica' advertisement

One of the absolute best ads of any kind, and certainly for a comic book!

I had to take advantage of the awesome Milestone Comics
ad for Hardware, which DC gave a percentage of payment
towards cost for using their in-house produced ad.

This is from the back cover of 'eclectica delectica' # 1,
sometime in 1993.

Rogue print by Paul Ryan

During a Tampa comic book convention back in 1993 or 1994,
I purchased a print of a "Rogue" sketch done by Paul Ryan
(the good one!) and had him sign it to The Outpost!

It's one of my favorite keepsakes, even though not an original
piece! (I also got my Squadron Supreme graphic novel and
D.P. 7 # 1 signed by Paul, who was quite a nice guy!)

Steve Lightle Goodness

Perhaps the only consistency and linking aspect
to all the myriad incarnations of The Legion in
the last 30 years (besides code names and fans)
in the incredible, detailed artwork of Steve Lightle.

Providing covers and interiors on the Baxter Legion
series early on, Steve became a much-deserved fan
favorite.

For a good while, Steve and The Legion
became synonymous. His art graced the book
during many tumultuous changes in the 1980s,
including the death of the Legion's Superboy.

He co-created and designed the newer
Legionnaires, including the influx of non-humanoid
characters like Quislet and Tellus.

His realistic yet stylized attention to
quality and minutia made every book
he touched look better.

His "History of the Legion" pencils inside
"Who's Who in the Legion of Super Heroes"
gave fans a chance to see Steve's tremendous
work on the prior eras of Legion lore.

Mr. Lightle is always a welcome addition to any
version of The Legion that DC publishes!
Thanks for all the great memories and
superb issues, Steve!

(Hey! Pretty cute, to boot! Ya
can't beat that!)

A New Day

Perhaps, with some progressive legislative steps now taken...

towards acknowledging the equality of love for all people...

we have made true strides in bringing about promise....

and the reality of a future that gives hope to us all!

A Message from President R.J. Brande

"A gentle reminder from the
improved future; Remember that
you in 2012 face an unprecedented
deciding vote for the future of our world!

Don't be a Khundian sympathizer
and vote for the newest Lex Luthor
clone, Mitt Romney!

Share our vision of unified preparation
for a brighter future for all of
us, and select the man that brought
about my timeline's better days.
A second term for President Barack
Obama
serves the greater good.

Even a wealthy industrialist like me
knows that money can't be the sole focus
of a leader! But nothing is set
in stone; your actions can
alter everything! Assert your
power on Tuesday!

Long Live the Legion!"

Creative Loafing Win

First year in business, my
shop was the first to be voted for by comic book fans
in the Bay area!

A little innovation and rule-breaking
go a long way!

Acts of Valor: Monny Shot

"Talking 'bout that Monny, Monny, Monny..."
I always thought that Mon-El was one of
those characters that just had an essentially
sexualized quality....

not just because he was big and beefy and sturdy,
nor powerful and strong.

I liked his boy-next-door, good-natured quality
that came from his suffering and uniqueness,
giving him more depth than just old boy scout
Clark.

There's just something adorable and passionate and
alluring about him, and of course there's the
wounded soul thing which appeals to us care-takers!

He's hot but he doesn't really know he's hot.
He's an average, nice Joe College...with
a little something-something extra.

And, then too, pictures like this don't
hurt his station as sexy beast!
